Meet Children's Author Karen Kaufman Orloff

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved books. I spent many Saturdays at our local library in Orangeburg, NY, where I grew up. After reading many books, I realized I wanted to write them! It took me a long time, though, to finally become an author. I had lots of other jobs first -- I worked in a bakery, in an office, was a magazine editor, and then a mom! In fact, my first book, "I Wanna Iguana," was inspired by my children who really, really wanted a pet. The people (and pets) in my life continue to inspire me every day. What inspires you?
